This work was made as part of Arbor's annual exhibition in 2017 with the theme Australiana.
Artist Statement: Inspired by my home town, Gembrook, I have created two pieces by capturing the unique detail in each gumnut. I have been strongly influenced by the Australian gumtrees, and love developing pieces that show the shapes and textures found in nature and exploring the individuality of each seed pod and gumnut. For this exhibition, I have carefully designed a matching set of gumnut studs and a pendant in sterling silver. With the love of colour, I have selected a natural blue sapphire (found in the heart of QLD and beautifully cut by Paul Fenselau) and had it organically set in one of the gumnuts in the pendant.
These studs are made in sterling silver and measure 7mm in diameter.
