Artist Statement:The concept behind Anastasia Mannix’s unique ring has been drawn from Australia’s vast landscapes and varying terrain. Anastasia Mannix has explored the notions of the contrasting climates across the continent, our large bodies of water and of course the diversity within Australian cultures. Anastasia Mannix has fabricated this one of a kind ring by hand using 100% Australian, recycled metals and a luminous Australian opal, which has been sourced from Lightning Ridge in NSW and then hand cut in the Huon Valley, Tasmania by lapidarist Aimee Bergemann. Anastasia Mannix strives to keep her practice as sustainable as possible. Using 9ct yellow gold and oxidised sterling silver the contrasting ring portrays the many differences and conflicts within the Australian landscape and cultures. Anastasia Mannix also recognises Australia always was and always will beindigenous land.
This piece is made from recycled metals, oxidised sterling silver and 9c yellow gold. The width tapers from 17mm to 6mm and is a size O 1/2
